Vampires of Today
Now a days, in places like New Orleans, there are groups of people that get together and practice being vampires. Yes that is correct, they practice vampirism! These are not the kind of vampires that live forever or can't go out during the day though. These vampires are just regular people who mostly get together for the comradery primarily. Yes there is some blood drinking and some things that could be considered odd by many, but these people do get blood and energy from people only with that person's permission. Most of the people who practice this form of vampirism are "Energy Vampires" and just simply need to be around positive people, so that they can feed off of their energy. They are ordinary people with some extra-ordinary hobbies.

The Vampire Medical Mystery
Thanks to Medical Science in today's world, many diseases have been discovered that have symptoms which could make them appear or act, a lot like the vampire mythology. One popular disease that is considered responsible for the Idea of the Vampire is porphyria. The symptoms of this disease can make a person appear very pale, burn very easily in the sun, and even parts of the ears and nose can actually fall off. This could make a person appear as Nosferatu relatively easily. There are many other diseases that can cause multiple symptoms that mimic Vampiric traits. Renfield's Syndrome is actually referred to as Vampire syndrome. Renfield's is a disease that makes a person crave the taste of blood, which is how it gets it's name. In this modern world Vampires are finally becoming more understood as just people with medical problems, instead of evil people who kill and turn into bats.
